The Nanomedicine Lab The nanomedicine lab works in the fields of molecular biology and nanotechnology, which share common length scale. Thanks to the quantum-mechanical properties of the matter, particles with novel functions can be built. Most importantly, understanding biological processes at the molecular level provides the necessary knowledge to develop new therapies. Specifically, the group, leaded from Prof Vittoria Raffa, is working in the field of “programmable nanomedicine” that exploit rationally designed and programmable nanoparticles to modulate cellular functions. Three are the main research lines: Neuroscience: use of nanostructures to promote nerve regeneration Cancer therapy: use of nanoformulation for approaches of personalized medicine Gene therapy: development of non-viral vectors for gene /drug therapy
