    He is an Associate Professor of Physics (Structure of the Matter) at Dipartimento di Fisica Enrico Fermi, UniversitĂ  di Pisa. His main scientific interests are in the applications of laser/matter interaction to advanced technologies and nanotechnologies including, among others, pulsed laser ablation, laser manipulation of matter, nanospectroscopy, and near-field optical microscopy. During his career, he has been the PI or Co-PI in many collaborative researches, he has acted as a reviewer for a variety of international journals and research agencies, he is presently board editorial member of Materials Research Express (IOP Publishing, UK) and Biosensors (MDPI, CH). He has coauthored more than 150 papers in peer-reviewed international journals (h-index 23). He had several institutional responsibilities, including Deputy Director of the Department of Physics (2016-20), Deputy-Coordinator of the PhD School in Physics (2014-18), elected member in various scientific and teaching committees within the Physics and Engineering Departiments, local responsible of the Consorzio Interuniversitario per le Scienze Fisiche della Materia (CNISM). He is presently the lecturer in two general physics and one advanced physics classes, in topics pertaining to experimental methods and nanospectroscopy of materials.
